- "What wouldn't he give to strike now, to jinx Dudley so thoroughly he'd have to crawl home like an insect, struck dumb, sprouting feelers..."
- — Description[src]
The Insect Hex (Entomorphis),[3][4] also known as the Insect Jinx,[1] was a dark charm that could be used to induce insect-like qualities upon a victim for a short period of time.[1] It deprived them of their ability to speak, forcing them to crawl about and endowing them with feelers.[2]
History[]
In the 1980s and 1990s at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, students often used this spell against their opponents in the Duelling Club.[4]
On 2 August, 1995, when Dudley Dursley insulted Harry Potter for his nightmares about the death of Cedric Diggory, Harry considered using the spell on Dudley, although the arrival of two Dementors prevented him from using it.[2]
Etymology[]
The Greek word "έντομο" ("entomo") means "insect" or "hopper",[6] and "μορφή" ("morfi") means "form", "shape" or "figure".[7]
