Irondale was a wizarding settlement in the Feldcroft Region of Scotland. There was a more-challenging broom-racing course near there according to Imelda Reyes.[1]
History[]
Irondale was originally founded by goblins who wanted to mine the iron in the area. The hamlet grew famous for its ironwork and this encouraged witches and wizards to move there. The goblins were pushed out and it ended up being entirely a wizarding settlement by the late 19th century. The newer inhabitants changed the name of the area from its original Gobbledegook name to Irondale.[2]
Pádraic Haggarty grew up in Irondale with his sister, Catrin Haggarty. She did not like Irondale and resented living there. She took an interest in the Dark Arts and left to join the Ashwinders, while he continued working there as a vendor. One day, his family's heirloom disappeared which he held Catrin responsible for stealing. A student walking through Irondale asked while he looked troubled and agreed to track it down for him. However, the so-called "Thief in the Night" turned out to be a Niffler, which they call The Irondale Pilferer.[3]
