Isaiah was a Jewish prophet who lived in the 8th century B.C..[1][2] He gave his name to one of the books of the Bible, which was believed to contain his writings, as one well those of at least one later prophet.[1][2]
A quote from the Book of Isaiah ("the eyes of the blind shall be opened") was included on the cover of a pamphlet published by the anti-witchcraft group the New Salem Philanthropic Society in 1926.[3]
Behind the scenes[]
- Specifically, the quote on Fighting Modern Evils is from Isaiah 35:5 in the King James Version of the Bible, and reads in full "Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped".
