The Jack Russell terrier is a small, energetic breed of dog, so named because it was originally bred by John "Jack" Russell for the purposes of fox hunting.[1] It is primarily white with the occasional black or tan marks.[1]

The Crup, a magical creature similar to a dog, was described as looking like a Jack Russell terrier with a forked tail.[2]
Ronald Weasley's Patronus took the form of a Jack Russell terrier.[3] He first used it during a Dumbledore's Army meeting in the 1995–1996 school year.[4]
