Jackdaw's Tomb was a mysterious cavern in the Highlands of Scotland used by the Keepers as the entrance to the Map Chamber and occupied by the ghost of Richard Jackdaw.[1]
History[]
A book containing the map to this cavern was kept in the Athenaeum, within the Restricted Section of Hogwarts Library. In the mid-19th century, Peeves found the book and tore out the map pages, scattering them around the castle. These pages were later discovered by Richard Jackdaw, who decided to follow the map to the cavern — where he ultimately met his demise.[1]
His death was blamed on his lover, Anne Thisbe, leading to her lifetime imprisonment in Azkaban, where she descended into insanity.[1]
In the 1890–1891 school year, with the help of Jackdaw's himself, a Hogwarts student with the ability to see and wield the ancient magic was able to break into the tomb, where they investigated further and discovered the Map Chamber.[1]
