"Dumbledore asked that I give you something, Jacob."
— Newt Scamander giving the wand to Jacob Kowalski[src]

The wand given to Jacob Kowalski was made of snakewood, and was made sometime in or before 1932.[1]

History[]

This fake wand was commissioned by Albus Dumbledore so that Jacob Kowalski could blend in with and more easily hide in plain sight of witches and wizards during the global wizarding war, as he was a No-Maj.[1]

It was given to him by Newt Scamander onboard the Great Wizarding Express as a group of his closest allies journeyed to Berlin in order to attend the get-together of esteemed members of the world wizarding community in anticipation of the 1932 election of the new Supreme Mugwump of the International Confederation of Wizards hosted by the German Ministry of Magic.[1] Given the unfortunate tendency that wands had of rebelling and backfiring when handled by Muggles,[2] this particular wand did not have a core, and thus was incapable of producing magic despite being completely authentic-looking. As such, it was regarded as a "fake wand".[1] Dumbledore let Jacob keep his wand after Grindelwald's plan to cheat in the election in Bhutan was thwarted, saying he could think of no one more deserving of it.[3]
