At some point between 1998 and 2020, Hermione Granger visited the Jakarta black market, specialising in the sale of baby beasts.[1]
By the 21st century, since the Calamity, the British Ministry of Magic pulled resources away from combating the black markets. This led to the black market - particularly the illegal Magical Creature market in Indonesia - utterly exploding. Grim Fawley learned of this and managed to get the attention of the Ministry on the problem, causing a new wave of Calamity.[1]
