James Brown III is an actor who portrayed Bane in Years 1 and 2 of the Broadway Lyric Theatre production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, from 25 August 2018 to 12 March 2020, during which he was also an understudy for Rubeus Hagrid and the Sorting Hat. Brown was known to have performed the dual role of Hagrid/Sorting Hat on 1 March 2020, when TDF presented its first ever Autism Friendly Performance of the play.[3]

Brown delivered the train announcement for the Hogwarts Express in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Chapter 6 (The Journey from Platform Nine and Three-Quarters) for the Harry Potter At Home project. His lines were "We will be reaching Hogwarts in five minutes' time. Please leave your luggage on the train, it will be taken to the school separately."[4]

Organised by Bloomsbury Publishing for the 2021 Harry Potter Book Night,[5] when the cast of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child read aloud Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Chapter 5 (Diagon Alley) together, Brown also portrayed Quirinus Quirrell, one of the people at the Leaky Cauldron during Harry Potter's first trip to Diagon Alley.[6]
