Jean Southern is a British portrayed the Hogwarts Express Trolley witch in the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. She was credited as "Dimpled Woman on Train". (Margery Mason took over her role in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.)
Southern was born on 14 January 1927 in South Shields, Tyne and Wear, North East England, UK. Her career (mostly TV shows in the UK) did not begin until age 56 (1983).
As of 28 September 2016 (following the death of Hazel Douglas (Bathilda Bagshot)), Southern is the oldest surviving female cast member from the original Harry Potter franchise and as of 7 November 2022 (the death of Leslie Phillips (voice of the Sorting Hat) the oldest surviving cast member in general.
