Jeanne d'Arc, also known as Joan of Arc was a French military leader and later saint who lived in the early 15th century. She fought the English during the Hundred Years' War and was later tried and executed for heresy.[1]
Biography[]
In 1927, a comedy musical entitled "Jeanne d'Arc Magique" was performed in France.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
- Although it is popularly believed that Joan of Arc was tried for witchcraft, this was a hoax invented in 1921 by Margaret Murray, who claimed that Joan and the Baron Gilles de Rais were part of a pagan witch-cult and were hunted down by the church for that reason.
- As Joan of Arc was known well enough to the wizarding world to have a comedy musical made about her, it is possible that she really was a witch within the wizarding world.
