Jules Egwu was a witch and a cousin of Andre Egwu.

Biography

Early life

She was home-schooled, instead of attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, as her family moved constantly due to her parents jobs as Magizoologists.

By the 1986–1987 school year, she had travelled around the world with her parents. She had lived in China, India and the Mediterranean, and had been to fifty-two countries including a trip to the Amazon.

Jules also had an interest in magical creatures. She and her parents rehabilitated a baby Granian with a broken wing. She once stumbled on a patch of Cobra Lilies, barely made it out alive. She saw an Occamy grow and shrink while defending its silver eggs. Once Jules hid from a graphorn in the Austrian Alps.

As a young girl, she was very shy and uncertain around people and had difficulty making friends. This was mainly due to her family's constant movements. She considered the Demiguise her favourite magical creature as it could become invisible at will. In her shyness she believed it would be better if she could make herself permanently invisible because no one would be interested in being friends her.

However, as she got older, she became more confident. This was due in large part to her interactions with her cousin Andre seeing how comfortable he was with himself gave her the courage to be herself.

Rescuing of a Demiguise

During the 1986–1987 school year, she was living in Japan while her parents were there, hoping to observe an Oni. Some time that year, she visited her cousin in Hogsmeade.

At around that time, a Demiguise had somehow made its way to Hogsmeade and began stealing various sweets from the area around the village. Jules and Andre along with Andre's friends, Jacob's sibling and Penny Haywood, managed to capture the creature. Jules decided to take it with her when she returned to Japan, as it was part of the creature's natural habitat range, and ask her parents to find a suitable place to release it.

Arrival at Godric's Hollow

At some point during Andre's school years, her parents were hired by the Ministry of Magic on a long-term Magizoology project, which required them to stay in England for an unknown amount of time. Because of this, her parents moved to Godric's Hollow, preferring the quietness of the village to the noise of London. As she was now in the same country as her cousin, she was excited to spend more time with him and his friends, such as Jacob's sibling. Andre asked Jacob's sibling for help in introducing Jules to the rest of their friends whilst he prepared a family feast for the students and their immediate family.

Although initially unsuccessful in making friends, Jules eventually became good friends with the rest of the Hogwarts students and especially Jacob's sibling. When it became apparent that most of their friends' family wouldn't be able to attend the feast, Jules suggested they change it to a friends feast instead, which Andre agreed to and which they held on the Training Grounds.

Having been home-schooled all her life, she wasn't very socially adept and would often come off as aggressive and direct to others. Despite this, she cared deeply for people and especially for magical creatures and was very loyal to the few friends she had. She was also very competitive, something which showed when she challenged Merula Snyde to a game of Gobstones despite not knowing how to play.

Magical abilities and skills

• Magizoology: Jules had a strong understanding of magical creatures, given that she was home-schooled by her Magizoologist parents and travelled extensively with them. She knew the range of a Demiguise by heart and could identify the differences between Knarls and hedgehogs just by looking at them.
• Potions: Jules was able to recognise when Penny Haywood was brewing a Wiggenweld Potion based off of just a few of the ingredients and claimed to know a trick to make the potion twice as potent.
• Duelling: Jules was a very capable and aggressive duellist, able to fight both as a group as well as on her own. At one point, she managed to freeze three opponents with one cast of the Full Body-Bind Curse.
• Dark Arts: Jules was capable of casting the Full Body-Bind Curse to incapacitate an opponent.
• Gobstones: Despite having never played the game before she met Merula and Ismelda, she managed to beat Merula in her first ever game, claiming she had a natural talent for it.
