The kelp forest was a location in the open ocean section of the Magical Creatures Reserve.[1]

1986–1986 school year[]
During the 1986–1987 school year, the sea serpent at the Magical Creatures Reserve travelled through this location regularly, which caused great distress to the Giant Squid at the Magical Creatures Reserve, whose territory encompassed this kelp forest. Jacob's sibling eventually realised this and cast an Imperturbable Charm over the entire kelp forest, a highly impressive magical feat, which peacefully prevented the sea serpent from distressing the Giant Squid.[1]
