Kevin Guthrie (born 22 March 1988) is a Scottish former actor and sex offender[1] who portrayed Abernathy in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.[2]
On 16 April 2021, Guthrie was convicted of sexual assault and placed on the Sexual Offenders Register indefinitely. He was sentenced to three years in prison on 14 May 2021.[3] As such, Warner Bros. confirmed that he had been fired from Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore before production began.[4] As the character is not depicted or mentioned in the third film, having not been recast, it is unknown what has happened to Abernathy in-universe.
On 25 May 2022, Guthrie was released from prison following a successful appeal of his sentence.[5]
