Kevin Sterndale was a student who began attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry between 1987 and 1989. By the 1993-1994 school year, he had been made a Prefect, and was tasked with patrolling areas of the school off limits to students.
Kevin is from Irish name Cóemgein. This is derived from cóem which means "kind, gentle, handsome" and gein, "birth".
Sterndale might be from the English word stern, which means "serious" or "in the assertion of authority and discipline".This could relate to him being a Prefect. Dale is the English word for valley, especially a broad one.

Notes and references
- To have been a Prefect in the 1993-1994 school year, he would have had to have been in his fifth year or up by that point, thus putting his possible range of birth dates between 1 September, 1975 and 31 August, 1978.
