Kobayashi was a surname of a Japanese wizarding family of unknown blood status.
History[]
A certain ancestor of the family was stricken with a curse, which would be passed down into the Kobayashi family as a blood malediction. The curse afflicted the male members of the family through their patrilineal line, and resulted in their recurring and involuntary, albeit temporary, transformations into a fox against their will when under great stress or if triggered by other conditions, such as poisoning.

Behind the scenes[]
- It is not known if all the male members of the Kobayashi family bloodline transform into a fox, or if they could transform into a varied type of beast, as Kenji was the only known member of the family to be turned into this particular animal.
