Le Cri de la Gargouille (in English, The Cry of the Gargoyle) was a newspaper published in Paris, France covering events in the Wizarding world. In June 1927, the cover story concerned a catastrophe at a circus and a reward being offered for the capture of Credence Barebone.[1]

Behind the scenes

  • File:Strye de Notre Dame.jpg

The Stryge de Notre Dame, one of the most famous French gargoyles in real life.

It is possible that it is the same newspaper as the one that reported about Gellert Grindelwald in the first Fantastic Beasts film.
  • It is possible that the Cri actually employs one or more animate gargoyles as part of its staff, though the name might simply be metaphorical.
  • Regardless, it is likely that the paper's association with gargoyles was chosen by Rowling because of the famous gargoyle statues of Notre-Dame de Paris, one of the most famous monuments in France.
