- "I'm Lenny Pindlebrook, by the way. As you may have noticed, I love puzzles. It's my thing!"
- — Lenny Pindlebrook[src]
Lenny Pindlebrook was a English pure-blood wizard who attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where he was Sorted into Ravenclaw House.[1]
Biography[]
Early life[]
Lenny was born in Potton, England. His parents were originally from Iceland, but they raised him in Potton, England. His father took him on walks in the nearby Potton wood.
Hogwarts years[]
Whilst at Hogwarts, Lenny spent most of his time in the Hogwarts Library, where he struck up a close friendship with the Hogwarts librarian, Madam Pince. One year, Lenny came across the Trelawney family's scroll, which had been placed in the library by mistake. The scroll was encoded, something which Lenny saw as a challenge. He was unable to crack the cipher until he was tracked down by Jacob's sibling, who wanted to know what the scroll detailed. Together, the pair realised that Astrology was the key to breaking the cipher, and Lenny started to translate the scroll. When he did, however, he saw one of Sybill Trelawney's prophecies, which he believed related to his own death. Terrified, he and Jacob's sibling searched for answers. When he talked to Sybill in person, he was sceptical of her abilities, which gave him a sense of relief. He later talked to Minerva McGonagall and Albus Dumbledore, who reassured him that Sybill mostly gave inaccurate prophecies.[1]
Personality and traits[]
Lenny was an extremely intelligent boy, but he lacked social skills and had a propensity to get nervous when talking to people he didn't know, preferring instead to spend most of his time in the Hogwarts Library, reading. He idolised adventure and was highly impressed with Jacob's sibling when he met them, calling it "the brightest day of his life".
He had a habit of waggling his finger whenever he was thinking hard about things, something which others sometimes mistook for wandless magic.
Magical abilities and skills[]
- Puzzle-solving: Lenny loved puzzles, and was very skilled at solving them.[1]
- Code-breaking: Lenny was able to crack the cryptogrammatic cipher on the Trelawney family's scroll, something which Sybill Trelawney admitted was incredibly difficult for anyone outside of the family to do.[1]
- Arithmancy: Lenny's love of numbers aided him in this field; he did well in the Arithmancy class at Hogwarts.[1]
