- "Greetings, class. Today we shall explore another application of the Inner Eye. Lithomancy, the art of reading the future through stones! Some of the stones I have provided are semi-precious, so try not to lose them. Gaze at your stones as I explain their meanings and mysteries!"
- — Professor Trelawney to seventh-years[src]
Lithomancy was a form of divination that involved stones. It involved the usage of thirteen stones each with unique meanings. The stones were held over a star chart and allowed to drop where they may, with the placement of the fallen stones revealing their hidden message.[1]
Stone meanings[]
The Sun stone represented power, energy and life. The Universe stone represented people's place in the grand scheme. The Moonstone inspiration and intuition. The Water stone represented compassion, healing and cleansing.[1]
Other stones included the Spirit stone, Fire stone, Earth stone, Mars stone, Saturn stone and Air stone. There was no Creature stone.[1]
History[]
Lithomancy was taught to seventh-year Divination students by Professor Trelawney at Hogwarts during the 1990–1991 school year.[1]
