The London Zoo is the world's oldest scientific zoo, located in Regent's Park in London. Among the zoo's exhibits is a reptile house, which contained a Burmese boa constrictor bred in captivity. This was where Harry Potter first discovered his ability to speak Parseltongue.
Behind the scenes
- The London Zoo appears in the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone as the zoo that Harry Potter and the Dursley family visit. However, this cannot be considered canon, as, in the novel, Harry notes that he had never been to London before upon travelling there to shop at Diagon Alley. Thus, the zoo in question must be a different zoo.
