The London Zoo reptile house was the part of the London Zoo where reptiles were kept in London, England.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
- The London Zoo reptile house appears in the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone as the zoo that Harry Potter and the Dursley family visit. However, this cannot be considered canon, as it directly contradicts the novel, where Harry notes that he had never been to London before upon travelling to shop there at Diagon Alley. Thus, the reptile house in question must be at a different zoo.
- In the non-canonical appearance, the, Dursley family and Harry Potter visited this part of the zoo for Dudley Dursley's eleventh birthday on 23 June 1991. Dudley was frustrated by the fact that the boa constrictor wouldn't move until Harry made it move, discovering he speaks Parseltongue while doing so. Dudley got excited when he saw the snake move and he pressed himself against the glass which then magically vanished. He fell into the enclosure enabling the snake to escape. This caused chaos in the zoo, as people were running and screaming and the keeper of the reptile house was watching in shock.[1]
