The second wand of Luna Lovegood is made of unknown wood and core. Its length is unknown. It was made by Garrick Ollivander in the spring of 1998 after his rescue from Malfoy Manor.
History
Luna's first wand was taken from her in December of 1997 when she was abducted by Death Eaters and imprisoned in the dungeons of Malfoy Manor. Ollivander was also being held prisoner there, and she was a great comfort to him. They were rescued along with several others around Easter of 1998 by Dobby the house-elf, and brought to Shell Cottage, the home of Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour. After his recovery, Ollivander constructed a new wand for Luna in thanks for all she had done for him. She practiced with it while staying at the cottage and used it during the Battle of Hogwarts. It is unknown if she ever had any problems with this wand, as it did not choose her, but Ollivander made it especially for her, and she was able to produce a patronus with it, so most likely not.
Behind the scenes
- The prop for this wand appears similar to one of the wands Harry tried out in the scene in Ollivanders Wand Shop from the film version of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. It is unconfirmed if it is actually the same prop.
- Another interesting thing to note is that in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Luna got her wand in the spring. The handle of the wand is very similar in appearance to a tulip, a flower grown in the spring and one of the signs of the aforementioned season.
