Lyon is a city in east-central France in the Rhône-Alpes region, situated between Paris and Marseille. The city is known for its historical and architectural landmarks.[1]
History[]
A set of alchemical texts was translated from the original Latin and published in duodecimo at Lyon in 1557.[2]
In 1927, the Ginger Witch, a notorious serial petty criminal, was sighted in Lyon, as reported by Le Cri de la Gargouille.[3]
Behind the scenes[]
- In the the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, the city of Lyon is only mentioned in the book on alchemy in which Harry Potter, Ronald Weasley and Hermione Granger learn about the Philosopher's Stone. The excerpt mentioning Lyon can only be seen in the American edition, as in the British edition the sentence is cut off the top of the screen: that particular shot is different between the two editions because the American one uses a different prop that says "Sorcerer's Stone" instead of "Philosopher's Stone".
