Mabel Gurnhart was a witch who attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the 21st century. She was the Assistant Head of the Hogwarts Gobstone Club.[2]

Biography[]

At age eleven, Mabel began attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and was sorted into Ravenclaw House. Mabel eventually joined the Hogwarts Gobstone Club, and later became its Assistant Head.[2]

In the 2010s, Mabel was trying to recruit members for the Hogwarts Gobstone Club. While most students didn't want to join, including a Muggle-born student, she eventually convinced Liza Loonifellow to join, and together they tried to recruit more people. Mabel eventually found out that Liza was trying to get people to join the club by offering perks and favours. Mabel told her that she didn't have to recruit that way so she wouldn't feel obligated to carry them out. Mabel was moved by the effort Liza had done and gave her a solid gold Gobstone as a present. Liza was also moved by the present and, when Mabel saw this, she had an idea to recruit new members.[2]

The Muggle-born student found the duo in the Great Hall giving gold Gobstones from Mabel's own set to the people that signed to join the club. The student made her understand that giving gold was no different than the perks and favours Loonifellow was offering earlier and that the people who joined for the gold weren't going to actually stay in the club. Mabel realised that she got carried away and that now she didn't have any real applicants or a Gobstones set.[2]

Mabel eventually participated in the Gobstones inter-school competition, where she won using a standard set provided by the event organisers. Professor Clodagh Dromgoole and the house-elf, Gosby, went to see the competition, as Liza told her that the Gobstone Club needed support. Mabel thanked Liza for all she had done for the club and insisted that she should keep the solid gold Gobstone, as she had learned that a good friend was more precious than gold.[2]
