MacDuff was the surname of a wizarding family of unknown blood status. The family had a branch in the United States, whose greatest exponent was Mungo MacDuff, one of the first Aurors on American soil.
The family also produced a Dark wizard, who served as Gellert Grindelwald's acolyte in the late 1920s and a young witch who attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the 1990s and was sorted into Gryffindor House
