The tail of the Mackled Malaclaw, while unfit to eat,[2] could be used as an ingredient in the brewing of certain potions.[1] While the Malaclaw appeared similar to a lobster, anybody who consumed its flesh, including the tail, would have came down with a nasty fever and developed a green rash.[2]
History[]
The famous Potioneer Zygmunt Budge, at the age of fourteen as a Hogwarts student, once corrected his Potions Professor on the use of Mackled Malaclaw tails in potion-making. His superior knowledge of potions, their ingredients and many other things, inspired Budge to drop out of Hogwarts in order to enter the Wizarding Schools Potions Championship.[1]
