A Magical Enhancer was a variety of fungus which was cultivated by Professor Dame Phyllida Spore.[1]
It used its own kind of magic to enhance a witch or wizard's magical abilities beyond imagination.[1]
History[]
During her research into magical fungi, Professor Spore had discovered how to cultivate this specific kind of fungus, and documented how to grow them in The Spore Scrolls. Initially archiving the scrolls in the Hogwarts Library, she later realised how dangerous the fungus she created could be, so she hid the only known specimen, The Spore Scrolls, and a letter in a box in the Forbidden Forest, under the guard of the centaurs.[1]
Years later, Albus Dumbledore discovered the box and, sharing Professor Spore's concerns about the Magical Enhancer, left it hidden in the forest.[2] Peeves saw him doing so, but Dumbledore made him vow to not tell anyone.[1]

Later, during the 1980s and 1990s, Jacob's sibling was tasked by The Hogwarts Diary to find The Spore Scrolls and eventually did, taking the box back to Dumbledore. The pair opened the box and saw the Magical Enhancer, as well as the powerful nature of the magic it released. After dispelling the magic, Dumbledore gave Jacob's sibling the choice of what to do with the box, to either return it to the library or return it to the Forbidden Forest.[1]
