A magical megaphone was similar to a Muggle megaphone, except instead of being powered by electricity, it is bewitched with an Amplifying Charm or similar spell to amplify the user's voice much louder than the Muggle version.
It's popularly used to commentate on Quidditch matches at Hogwarts, but can presumably be used at other types of sporting events as well.
History

Lee Jordan used the magical megaphone to commentate on Quidditch matches during the 1991–1992,[1] 1992–1993,[2] 1993–1994,[3][4] and 1995–1996 school years, the last being his final year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.[5]
During the 1996–1997 school year, Zacharias Smith became Jordan's first successor, taking over Jordan's duties, and commentated the match between Gryffindor and Slytherin with the magical megaphone.[6] As Smith played for the Hufflepuff Quidditch team, Luna Lovegood took over the role of commentator and used the magical megaphone for at least one game in which Hufflepuff played.[7]
Other use
In 1993, Minerva McGonagall announced that the final match of the season would be cancelled using a similar, purple megaphone, possibly the same one.[8]
