Makowiec[1] or poppy seed roll[2] was a Polish pastry consisting of a roll of sweet yeast bread with a dense, rich, bittersweet filling of poppy seed. It was also traditional in Hungary, Romania, Germany, and many other countries.[2]
History[]
Makowiec was one of the pastries sold at the No-Maj bakery Kowalski Quality Baked Goods in 1927.[1]
