A marionette was a string puppet.[1][2]
History[]
During the attack at Godric's Hollow, 31 October 1981, when Lord Voldemort murdered James Potter for protecting his wife and son in the family cottage with the Killing Curse, James's dead body was said to fall like a marionette whose strings had been cut.[2]
During the riot at the 1994 Quidditch World Cup, Death Eaters who were torturing the Muggle Roberts family by levitating them high in the air at the Quidditch World Cup Campsite were said to be like puppeteers who were controlling marionettes with invisible strings.[1]
Nyle Golding, a Squib in the 21st century, was known for his talent with marionettes and puppets. His mother, Glenna, often praised his remarkable skills. In 2011, Nyle devised a plan to stage a marionette show for the residents of Hogsmeade.[3]
