Marlowe was a pet Kneazle belonging to Glenna Golding.[1]
Biography[]
He was named after Philip Marlowe, the private eye, because his owner Glenna loved old Muggle detective novels.[1] In 2011, on the day Harry Potter brought a student to Honeydukes, the student overheard a witch scolding the Kneazle for scaring off Glenna, warning Marlowe that there would be no treacle tarts for it.[2]
One day during the Christmas season of 2011, Marlowe ran away from Glenna on the streets of Hogsmeade, and stopped next to a Hogwarts student. Glenna chased after him, and apologised to the student, asking them if Marlowe had frightened them. Later that day, Glenna, who had invited the student to her home, told them about the origin of Marlowe's name and that if he liked them, it meant they were family. After the student had left, Glenna promised Marlowe that she'll "tell them" when they were ready to hear it.[1]
Personality and traits[]
The student described Marlowe as "a lively one", very healthy and energetic.[1] The Kneazle often ran away and caused a bit of mayhem and trouble in the village, much to Glenna's exasperation. Despite its mischief, it was loyal and caring toward its mistress' family, as shown when the cat brought Glenna's "niephling" to Nyle, sensing he needed boosting up.[3]
