Marmaduke Gilbertus Dale (fl. 1390s) was a medieval wizard and a famed Herbologist.[2]

Biography[]

Marmaduke was the younger brother of Granum Dale. He grew up to be a famed Herbologist who discovered different properties in magical herbs and plants. He also discovered different types of flora. His work influenced the disciplines of Herbology and potion-making for which the wizarding world owed a great debt. Granum grew very jealous of his younger brother and resented his success. When their mother died, she left the family crest to Marmaduke which upset Granum who thought he should have it because he was the eldest child. When he died, Granum stole Marmaduke's Crest off his sarcophagus which put a curse on any of his descendants who entered the Dale Family Tomb.[2]

Legacy[]

Several centuries later, his descendant Samantha Dale discovered what happened through her research. She told her brother, William Dale about the curse on the Dale Family Tomb. He did not take it seriously and tried to enter the tomb. He invoked the curse which transfigured his feet into purple beets. To break the curse, she asked her friend to return the family crest to Marmaduke's sarcophagus. Upon their success, she received word that her brother's feet were back to normal.[2]
