Mason is the surname of a Muggle family.
In 1992, Mr Mason was the wealthy builder invited by Vernon Dursley to have a dinner party at his home along with his wife, because he was hoping to secure his investment in his drill company.[1]
Mr and Mrs Mason were in conversation with Vernon, Dudley, and Petunia Dursley when Dobby levitated the cake, which was made by Petunia, and dropped it on Mrs Mason's head. Harry Potter pretended to do this, because they were muggles, and therefore not allowed to know about the existence of magic.[2]
