Matey was a pet goat owned by Aberforth Dumbledore.[1]
History[]
Matey lived in the Hog's Head Inn with its owner, Aberforth, and was mild mannered and docile in behaviour, frequently allowing the pub's patrons to scratch its chin. Matey's horns were also noticeably clean and curly.[2]
On 5 October, 1995, when Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger walked through the front door of Aberforth's pub in Hogsmeade, the Hog's Head, where they had scheduled the first meeting of what was to become Dumbledore's Army, Matey darted out from behind the bar counter suddenly. Aberforth followed Matey into another room, calling out, "Matey, come back here.".[1]
