A meat cleaver is a type of knife commonly used by butchers to cut pieces of meat.[3]
History[]
Walter Parkin would attend his children's Quidditch matches with his wand in one hand and a meat cleaver in the other, which often had an intimidating effect on the opposing team.[1]
At some points in the 1800s, Apollonia Black got frustrated with her house-elf, Scrope, and used a cleaver to chop off his right ear.[4]
By 1927, the Magizoologist Newton Scamander owned a meat cleaver, which he used to chop up meat for his carnivorous magical beasts to eat in his suitcase. When the Muggle Jacob Kowalski visited his case for the first time in late 1927, he took out his meat cleaver to chop up some meat, put the meat in a bucket and then gave bucket to Jacob in order to help feed his creatures.[2]
