This scrapbook was the compilation of research that Merula Snyde and Ismelda Murk had made on vampires.[1]
History[]
Merula and Ismelda started this scrapbook at some point before or during the 1990–1991 school year. However, according to Merula, by that school year, the scrapbook still mostly consisted of Ismelda's drawings of the part-vampire singer, Lorcan d'Eath.[1]
As Merula and Jacob's sibling began to investigate rumours of a vampire in Hogsmeade (which turned out to be the thief Todd Cribb), Merula brought the scrapbook along with her. She let Jacob's sibling read it so they could decipher the riddle that she had recorded in the scrapbook, which led Merula to discover the One-Eyed Witch Passage. Whilst in Hogsmeade she accidentally dropped the scrapbook, and Jacob's sibling picked it up and returned to the castle with it. Jacob's sibling, Ismelda, and Barnaby pored over the book to look for clues relating to the One-Eyed Witch Spell when they wanted to return to Hogsmeade. Later, Merula brought the book to an encounter with an unidentified vampire, who thanked Merula for making a record of her kind and said it made her feel 'normal'.[1]
