A microwave was a Muggle device which could be used for heating food.
History[]
During the 1985–1986 school year, a microwave was in the Muggle Studies Classroom.[1] Later during the 1990–1991 school year, Arif Sikander, the Muggle Studies Professor, along with Jacob's sibling and Corey Hayden, decided to use a magically-powered microwave in the Muggle Studies Classroom to safely destroy a cursed CD case, which worked.[2]
Arthur Weasley acquired one of these sometime prior to the summer of 1992. When Harry Potter was visiting that summer, Arthur asked for his help in locating some of his Muggle artefacts, including a microwave, and returning them to their proper locations.[5]
The Dursley family also owned a microwave at 4 Privet Drive. When the Advance Guard came to pick up Harry in August 1995 from the property, Kingsley Shacklebolt and Sturgis Podmore passed the time waiting for Harry to pack by examining this microwave.[3] In 1997, Fleur Delacour examined herself in the Dursley family's microwave door at 4 Privet Drive.[4]
