Mint is a genus of strongly scented herbs.[3] Peppermint was one particular variety of mint.[1]
Mint had healing and cooling properties and was used in wizarding remedies: dried mint leaves were used in the treatment of mad dog bites.[2][4], as well as the Fire-Breathing Potion.[5] Mint was also used to flavour certain sweets, such as mint humbugs and after-dinner mints.
Penny Haywood's father grew mint in his garden.[6]
Jae Kim grew his own mint plant and used it to flavour his Cauldron Cakes.[7]
