There existed a secret passage behind the mirror on the fourth floor of Hogwarts Castle that led from the castle to the town of Hogsmeade. The secret passage was shown on the Marauder's Map, and Fred and George Weasley used it to sneak into Hogsmeade during their time at Hogwarts, until it caved in during the winter of 1992, completely blocking it.[1] The passageway was large enough to hold a meeting inside.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
- It is unknown where exactly the passage led to in Hogsmeade, nor how one could access it.
- In the GBC version of the video game adaptation of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, the mirror on the fourth-floor corridor conceals instead a secret passage leading to a statue in the first-floor corridor. In the previous video game instalment, the mirror is present but the passage is inaccessible.
