- — Dragon Breeding for Pleasure and Profit blurb[src]
A mixture of brandy and chicken blood can be used by wizards to feed newly-hatched dragon chicks by the bucketful every half-hour, as covered in Dragon Breeding for Pleasure and Profit.[1] This concoction apparently serves as a replacement for dragon milk, and has been used in the breeding of dragons[2] since the 17th century. Rubeus Hagrid made this mixture in 1992 to feed to his newborn dragon Norbert (later Norberta).[1]

Notes and references
- ↑ 1.0 1.1 Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Chapter 14 (Norbert the Norwegian Ridgeback)
- ↑ Given the fact that dragons produce milk in the first place, that this mixture is the first thing a newborn dragon consumes, as well as the fact that dragons obviously cannot make brandy, it appears this is a wizarding replacement for dragon milk used to feed newborn dragons.
