A mixture of brandy and chicken blood can be used by wizards to feed newly-hatched dragon chicks by the bucketful every half-hour, as covered in Dragon Breeding for Pleasure and Profit. This concoction apparently serves as a replacement for dragon milk, and has been used in the breeding of dragons since the 17th century. Rubeus Hagrid made this mixture in 1992 to feed to his newborn dragon Norbert (later Norberta).

- ↑ Given the fact that dragons produce milk in the first place, that this mixture is the first thing a newborn dragon consumes, as well as the fact that dragons obviously cannot make brandy, it appears this is a wizarding replacement for dragon milk used to feed newborn dragons.
