Modesty Barebone[1] was the youngest of Mary Lou Barebone's three adoptive children.
A precocious child, Modesty managed to hide her disobedience from her strict mother, as she is aware of the treatment her brother, Credence, receives. When her mother is looking, she chants anti-witchcraft rhymes, but out of her sight (and that of her older sister), she rebelliously throws away New Salem Philanthropic Society leaflets.[1]
She was a haunted young girl with inner strength and stillness. She also possessed an ability to see deep into people and understand them.[2]
Behind the scenes
- Modesty Barebone will be portrayed in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by Faith Wood-Blagrove.[3]
