The Moke was a magical lizard with silver-green skin that was native to the Great Britain and Ireland.[1]
Description[]

A Moke in a Care of Magical Creatures lesson
It could reach up to ten inches in length. The Moke had never been noticed by Muggles since it had the ability to shrink at will.[1]
Mokeskin was highly prized in the making of purses and money-bags. A Mokeskin pouch would shrink at the approach of a stranger, making it virtually impossible for a stranger to find. Once the owner put something inside the bag, no one but the owner could get it out.[1] Rubeus Hagrid gave Harry Potter a Mokeskin bag as a gift on his seventeenth birthday.[2]
History[]
The Moke was covered in sixth-year Care of Magical Creatures classes, at least in the 1989–1990 school year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry by Professor Silvanus Kettleburn.[3]
By at least the 2010s, a Calamity Investigator working for the Statute of Secrecy Task Force studied the habits and environment of Mokes and Occamys in order to determine the potential similarity between their shrinking abilities.[4]
