- " [...] and with a swipe of her wand she began to duel."
- — Molly Weasley duelling Bellatrix Lestrange during the Battle of Hogwarts[src]
The wand of Molly Weasley was of unknown length, wood, and core materials. It most notably struck down and killed the Death Eater Bellatrix Lestrange in 1998.[1]
History[]
Like most wizards and witches in Britain, she likely purchased it at the age of eleven before beginning her education at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in 1961.
In 1992, her wand was noted to have been kept in a pocket of her apron.[2]
In 1994, she used it several times to help prepare large meals,[3] including making sauces and chopping potatoes, although she at one point accidentally grabbed one of her twin sons' trick wands instead of her own wand when she put it down for a second, much to her irritation.[4] She also used it to cast the Summoning Charm to pull Ton-Tongue Toffees from Fred's and George Weasley's clothing, complaining that they had been told to destroy them all.[5]
In 1995, she used it to repair a piece of parchment onto which Nymphadora Tonks accidentally toppled a candle.[6] She also made several meals, including lunch and breakfast.[7][8] She also used this wand in attempting to banish the boggart in the writing desk in the drawing room at 12 Grimmauld Place.[9]
In 1996 Molly used this wand to make onion soup for Harry Potter when he arrived early from his trip with Albus Dumbledore to recruit Horace Slughorn.[10] She also used it in conjunction with The Healer's Helpmate to try and help Hermione Granger to lessen her resemblance to "half a panda" after she was hit in the eye by a Boxing telescope.[10] On Christmas, she used this wand to increase the volume on the Wireless when listening to a broadcast by Celestina Warbeck.[11]
In 1997, Molly magicked the plates to serve apple tart.[12] She also used it in trying to make bacon on the morning of Harry Potter's seventeenth birthday, but caused half of the pack to flop out from the frying pan onto the floor because of the emotion from Harry's hug after receiving her brother's watch.[13] She also used it to levitate Harry's birthday cake which was shaped like a Golden Snitch.[13]
Molly was able to perform powerful magic with her wand, including being able to finish off and kill an incredibly powerful duellist and Dark witch, Bellatrix Lestrange, which she did in the Battle of Hogwarts in 1998.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
- Aside from the colour, the wand in the film is nearly identical to Lucius Malfoy's second wand, as seen in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1.
