Mooncalf Essence was a magical substance derived from the Mooncalf. It could be used to attract Hodags, which fed on Mooncalves.[1]
History[]
During the 1988–1989 school year, the Dark witch Corrine Cribb brought some Mooncalf Essence for thirty galleons when she found out that a Hodag was in Great Britain. She used it to lure a Hodag from Rubeus Hagrid at this hut to the Forest Grove in the Forbidden Forest, so she could steal it and take its horns, a valuable potion ingredient. Jacob's sibling found her with the Hodag in the Forest, where she revealed her scheme to them.[1]
