Morfin Gaunt's wand is of unknown length, wood, and core, owned and used by the wizard and Parselmouth, Morfin Gaunt.

History

Early years

It is unknown exactly when Morfin obtained his wand, or if he attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It may have been likely Morfin acquired the wand in Diagon Alley from Ollivander's Wand Shop or a like business.

Confiscation

In the 1920s, Morfin attacked Tom Riddle Senior with a spell that covered his face in hives.[1] Bob Ogden, an employee of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, visited the Gaunt shack to investigate Morfin's use of magic on a Muggle. Upon first meeting Ogden, Morfin fired a jinx at him which caused him to ooze yellowish pus from his nose.[1]

After an argument that culminated in Morfin's father Marvolo attacking both Ogden and his own daughter Merope, Ogden fled and returned within minutes with reinforcements. Marvolo and Morfin attempted to fight, but were overwhelmed and arrested. Morfin was sentenced to three years in Azkaban for both his harassment of a Muggle and the attack on Ogden.[1] His wand was confiscated, although it was returned to him after his release.

Theft

In 1943, Morfin was visited by his nephew, Tom Riddle, who, after questioning him about his mother and father, Stunned him and stole his wand, which he used to unlock the Riddle House' door, and commit the murders of his father, grandmother, and grandfather.[2]

Riddle then returned to Morfin and, using a highly advanced memory charm, planted a false memory into Morfin's mind, making him believe that he himself had committed the murders, then returned the stolen wand to Morfin's hand.[2]

Morfin was put on trial and, because of the false memory, openly admitted to murdering the Riddles. His wand was examined and it was discovered that the wand had cast the Avada Kedavra curse, confirming the murders. Morfin was sentenced to life imprisonment in Azkaban, but died shortly afterwards.[2] It is unknown what happened to his wand, although is possible that it was destroyed after his death.
