Muggle Art was part of the Muggle Studies curriculum at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Students probably studied and experimented with Muggle artefacts, paintings etc. It was possibly taught by Professor Charity Burbage, the former Muggle Studies teacher. Classes were held in a room on the fifth floor,[1] as well as in a classroom in the West Tower.[2]
Class information
Muggle Art was an extracurricular class available to Hogwarts students, and taught by an unknown professor. It is unknown what was covered in the class, however, given its distinction from Art, students possibly studied pieces of Muggle art, and analysed technology used by Muggles to make artwork (e.g. Cameras).
Behind the scenes
- In the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, during the sorting ceremony, a male teacher is seen wearing a beret, a symbol of the arts. This may mean that he teaches Muggle or magical Art.
- Given that it is a specialised form of Muggle Studies, it is possible that it is one of the optional classes for sixth and seventh years.
- The Wizbiz segment of the Sunrise Early Edition of The New York Ghost published on 30 May 1927 had an article titled "Is No-Maj art worth your Dragots?" located on section 7, page 4.[3]
