New-Salem-Philanthropic-Society

Banner of the New Salem Philanthropic Society, strong advocates of this ideology

"That's where you're going. A special school for freaks. You and that Snape boy… weirdos, that's what you two are. It's good you're being separated from normal people. It's for our safety."
Petunia Evans talking with her sister Lily regarding the latter and Severus Snape[src]

Muggle supremacy was a supremacist ideology in which Muggles were promoted on being superior in certain characteristics, traits and attributes on the contrary to wizards, whom they perceived to be inferior. The ideology contrasted with both pure-blood supremacy and wizarding supremacy, ideologies which both taught that wizards were superior to Muggles, albeit from different perspectives.

During the 1920s, the New Salem Philanthropic Society, led by Scourer descendant Mary Lou Barebone, had been established with the purpose of exposing and exterminating wizardkind.[1]

Another two of known Muggle supremacists against wizards and witches were Petunia and Vernon Dursley, the aunt and uncle of Harry Potter, from whom they tried to "extinguish" magic, although very unsuccessfully.[2] This disgust was eventually inherited by their son, Dudley Dursley, however unlike his parents, Dudley's supremacist views were based on fear, not hate. By 1997, Dudley started to get along with Harry and was the only member of his family to bid Harry farewell before going into hiding.[3] By adulthood, the two appeared to have resolved any of their differences.[4]
