Muriel was a witch who attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry where she was sorted into Slytherin house during the early 20th century. She had a close friend, Gwendolyn, who confessed her love to her, but Muriel's response never reached Gwendolyn, causing Gwendolyn to think she'd been rejected.[3]
Biography[]
Muriel attended Hogwarts during the early 20th century, where she was taught Defence Against the Dark Arts by Albus Dumbledore. She grew close to a fellow student, Gwendolyn, and the pair corresponded often. Gwendolyn fell in love with Muriel and sent her a confession of love, however failed to receive a response. In revenge, Gwendolyn created a cursed Howler and planned to send it to Muriel, however it is unknown if she ever sent the Howler. During Gellert Grindelwald's rise to power, Muriel's family was scared of the danger that Grindelwald presented and fled to America, cutting all ties with their past.[3]
Dumbledore, who was quite fond of Muriel, never found out what happened to her, and it also caused the end of her friendship with Gwendolyn. Her departure was so abrupt that Muriel left many of her possessions behind, including her Defence Against the Dark Arts textbook, which Gwendolyn took possession of. Muriel had in fact written a response to Gwendolyn's confession in that textbook, however it could only be seen with use of the Revelio Charm, and it is unclear if Gwendolyn ever saw it.[3]
