"You journey to India with the one-named Celebrity Magizoologist Naasz to find a Phoenix in the wild. Your patience is tested by endless interviews and relentless ego."
— Description[src]

Professor Naasz was a witch and celebrity Magizoologist, noted for her relentless ego.[1] She always wanted to be a Headmistress, so she opened the unaccredited The Naaszcademy of Magizoology in Brussels.[2]

Biography[]

In the 2010s, Naasz took members of the Statute of Secrecy Task Force who pursued a Magizoologist profession on a journey to India to find a wild phoenix in its natural habitat. The experience of it, however, ended up being a test of patience due to both the endless interviews they agreed to give and her egotistical demeanour. She also offered these members a very public training session on her use of the Shield Charm, which, despite her bravado, did improve these members' casting of the charm in combat.[1]

Naasz once tricked a Calamity Investigator into transporting her store of personally-designed (and almost completely useless) magical artefacts to the British Ministry of Magic for safekeeping. At one point, she created or obtained a trinket described as a "green-dyed Hippogriff feather with tiny baubles hanging equidistantly around the spine". It was sent to a member of the Statute of Secrecy Task Force, who thought it looked like a rather cheap souvenir. Naasz insisted that it was a valuable artefact, and carrying it seemed to increase the Task Force volunteer's chances of keeping a Magizoological Trace in their sights.[1]

In America, Naasz performed a four hour, one-woman, wordless stage play titled The Calamitous Calamity that was considered emotionally stirring. She also hosted a relentless and sophomoric lecture about theoretical magic regarding harmonic attuning and energy, although attendees of the lecture did find that her advice helped improve the effectiveness of their Inn Charms.[1]

Naasz once attempted to sell her own blend of tea, but the taste was revolting. She was convinced to sell it as a solvent instead, to the relief of teashop owners.[1]

She once released a long-winded 21-page pamphlet detailing techniques for handling creatures commonly deployed by the Calamity as Confoundables, but only four things within were actually useful. Naasz also opened a school in Brussels on a whim, desiring the position of headmistress. It had no faculty or students and lacked any sort of curriculum or books.[1]

Naasz took a Calamity Investigator working for the Statute of Secrecy Task Force on an excursion into the Forbidden Forest, where they learned how to pose for photographs, write pithy owls, and turn daily banality into Daily Prophet page-fifteen stories, but learned nothing new about magical beasts. Naasz also obtained a group of "rather tattered" pixies and offered them to the same Calamity Investigator for practice, as they wanted to focus on pixies to improve their Foundable return rate, as pixies were common Confoundables. However, feeling sorry for the creatures, the Calamity Investigator "accidentally" set them free rather than practising on them.[1]

Naasz later obtained a pack of Chupacabras, although they remained wild in behaviour. Naasz asked the same Calamity Investigator to look after her Chupacabras for a week while she was away. However, she actually returned three weeks later to finally relieve the now scarred and bloodied investigator of the task, with the investigator leaving with a stronger understanding of Chupacabras. Naasz also started a weekly subscription service called Content Droppings through which owls would occasionally deliver clusters of handwritten scrolls to recipients' doors. These scrolls were credited to Naasz herself, but appeared to have actually been ghostwritten by an assistant who was "vaguely literate." The same Calamity Investigator subscribed to Content Droppings and received a bundle of scrolls at their door. Reading these scrolls helped the Calamity Investigator better return Foundables that had to do with Care of Magical Creatures, although they were unsure as to how they had actually helped them do so.[1]

Naasz also asked the same Calamity Investigator to escort her to a Ministry event, during which she made a suggestion about the Calamity that was "incredibly daft" enough to "wrench the investigator's mind." However, their Trace Charm was suddenly improved as a result. The same Calamity Investigator later caught Naasz refilling the elixir in her de-ageing amulet, with her embarrassedly explaining to them that "youth was a process" and showed them how her elixir worked, helping improve their potionwork. She also opened several vegetarian wizarding inns featuring her own personal recipes, hiring the same Calamity Investigator to come to each opening and cast the Inn Charm as part of the opening festivities. The food at these inns was "awful," but the ceremonies did give the investigator further practice with the Inn Charm.[1]

Naasz also obtained a Swooping Evil which accidentally stung her, causing her to lose her mind and go missing. After a several-day-long investigation, the same Calamity Investigator travelled to Leicester, where they found Naasz happily eating out of a dumpster and quickly took her to St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries for treatment. She also acquired a Demiguise, which became lost, leading Naasz to offer a large reward for its return. The same Calamity Investigator managed to overcome the Demiguise's precognition and captured it before returning it back to Naasz, who only offered her own autograph in repayment. However, the Calamity Investigator did gain inspiration for catching opponents off guard in combat from their experience with the Demiguise.[1]
