This female Erumpent belonged to the famed magizoologist Newt Scamander in 1926. He kept her in his suitcase, where he kept many of his magical beasts.[1]
Biography[]
Escape[]
In early December 1926, Newt Scamander brought his suitcase to America to send Frank the Thunderbird back to Arizona. In New York, a No-Maj Jacob Kowalski accidentally exchanged his suitcase with Newt's. After arriving at his apartment, Jacob opened the case and unintentionally released some creatures inside, including the Erumpent.[1]

The Erumpent being re-captured
After escaping from the case, she invaded the Central Park Zoo in search of a mate, startling some children and letting several of the resident animals loose in the process. Newt, initially using Erumpent musk, attempted to lure her back into the suitcase, along with a mating dance, with Jacob's help. However, when Jacob fell over, the Erumpent smelled the fumes of the musk, and chased Jacob into Central Park. Newt managed to get her back into the case however on the frozen lake.[1]
Later life[]
In 1932, the Erumpent still lived in the suitcase.[2]
